Please note- you need to complete their application even if you have done so in the past BEFORE you turn forms into Mrs. Johnson. You will need to complete the Memorandum of Understanding and Special Admissions forms and turn them in OR you may scan and email them to: denise.johnson@simivalleyusd.org

Spring 2018 College Courses at Santa Su:Santa Su is looking to host Moorpark College courses as well to provide easier access for our students to participate in Dual Enrollment!  With enough interest, SSHS be able to have the following college courses here next semester (Spring 2018) starting after school:

Course Descriptions

COMM M04 – INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION 3 UNITS (MONDAYS 5:00PM-8:50PM ROOM: D-11)

Prerequisites: None Class Hours: 3 lecture 

Provides an introduction to the dynamics of communication in one-to-one relationships, focusing on experience, behavior, and rules governing interpersonal contexts such as friendship, families, and employer-employee relations. Studies factors influencing communication such as language, perception, non-verbal cues, listening, status and roles. Explores problems of communication and conflict resolution. Studies assertiveness and confidence in relating interpersonally through the communication process. (Formerly SPCH M04.) Applies to Associate Degree. Transfer credit: CSU; UC

SOC M01 – INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGY 3 UNITS (TUESDAYS 5:30PM-8:20PM ROOM: D-13)

Prerequisites: None Class Hours: 3 lecture

Examines basic concepts, theoretical approaches and methods of sociology. Emphasis is on the analysis and understanding of social structure, social interaction, socialization and the self, social stratification, cultural diversity, social change, and global dynamics. Students cannot complete both SOC M01 and SOC M01H because credit will only be awarded to the first course completed. Applies to Associate Degree. Transfer credit: CSU; UC

DANC M01 – DANCE APPRECIATION 3 UNITS (WEDNESDAYS 5:30PM-8:20PM ROOM: D-11)

Prerequisites: None Class Hours: 3 lecture

Examines dance through lecture and viewing dance performances both live and on video. Presents the developments of dance within each of the major genres and analyzes the factors which have influenced change in dance historically, culturally, and as an art form. (Formerly DANC M01A.) Applies to Associate Degree. Transfer credit: CSU; UC

SPAN M01 – ELEMENTARY SPANISH I 5 UNITS (TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS 5:30PM-7:45PM ROOM: D-11)

Prerequisites: None Class Hours: 5 lecture

Introduces beginning Spanish acquisition in a cultural context through listening, speaking, reading and writing. Emphasizes student interaction with authentic language in cultural context. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Provider number CEP2811 for 60 contact hours. Applies to Associate Degree. Transfer credit: CSU; UC
